From the reading Ive done there are 3 major concerns I have with the reliability of an E90. They are roomier and more comfortable than the previous E46 but still have good handling. As the owner of an E36 3 Series I was always so jealous of E46 3 Series owners as they had none of the annoying issues I had to.

We took a 2006 E90 330d from 3k miles to 157k miles over a six year period and it was faultless and a great car they are a very good all round car so much so that we now have a 2006 E90. BMW 3 Series Generation. Parts are cheap unlike Porsche. If reliability is your thing then go with 325i or 328i.

But other than reliability the less-powerful BMW E390-Series has more to offer. I would highly recommend a 2006 325i to someone looking for a reliable car. Then in 2008 the E90 lineup was redesigned and the 325i replaced with the 328i.

As for e90 reliability its all hit and miss and depends on how well it was maintained. However no car is immune from maintenance or reliability issues including BMWsAnd the same goes for the N52-equipped E90 cars.
